Your 2018 Vancouver Canucks Fan Guide

If you’re visiting Vancouver between October and April, one of the first things you should do is check the Vancouver Canucks schedule. The Canucks are the local hockey team, and by far the most popular team in town. I have gone to at least 1 game per season for as long as I can remember, and each game always provides a fun fan experience for everyone. 2018 will be an interesting year, as it is the first Vancouver Canucks season since 2000-2001 that the Canucks roster will be without the Sedin twins. The Sedin twins were two of the franchises most iconic and respected player. Both surpassed the 1000 point mark in their careers, and brought the Canucks within 1 game of winning the Stanley Cup. This Canucks fan guide will teach you about the team, help you get cheap Canuck tickets, and show you the best place to Watch Canuck games online for free.

Currently, the Vancouver Canucks are amidst a rebuilding year. As such, temper your expectations when you visit. More often then not, the team is going to lose. That being said, there is currently some bright young players to focus on when you go to the game. Here are a few players that you should keep an eye on when you are watching

Exciting Young Talent Provides Reason to Go

#40 Elias Pettersson

The golden child of the Canucks current rebuild. Pettersson was a highly drafted prospect out of Sweden and is currently looking to make his mark on the NHL. Elias Petterson has a great release and one timer, making him a dangerous scorer. His best asset however, is his playmaking ability. The young Swede is only 19 (at time of writing). and is one of the contenders of NHL rookie of the year.

#6 Brock Boeser

Boeser was the teams leading scorer last year, and did it at the young age of 20. He is known for his amazing flow (hair) as well as his deadly wrist shot. His release is amongst the best in the league. Boeser will be faced with a challenging year this season. He will be relied upon as the #1 option offensively without the Sedins and will have to produce on the powerplay without them. Still, Boeser is an bright young talent with the ability to score more than 30 goals this year.

#50 Bo Horvat

The teams #1 Center and most likely to become their next captain. Horvat isn’t as offensively gifted as the two previous players. But, he makes up for that with a tenacious style of play, a strong defensive accumen, and excellent faceoff abilities. He’s the most proven out of the 3 players. Horvat now enters his 5th season with the Canucks, even though he is only 23. Like Boeser, Horvat will need to increase his role for the Canucks to be competitive this year.

Vancouver Canucks Games Are a Great Family Experience

Each year it seems like the games are getting more and more entertaining with new hockey fans. There is a lot of fan interaction with the Canucks mascot, Fin. Fin is a giant orca whale who likes to get the crowd going, give out free swag, and high five fans! If you have kids, it’s a great idea to get to the game early. When I was young I used to get there at 6:30 for the warmup. Getting to the early rows during warmup has provided some of the most well known hockey fan interactions. On top of these great clips, it’s a good way to get a free puck, or wave to your favorite players.

Just remember to keep your head up during play. Pucks are shot very fast and there are plenty of times the puck is redirected into the stands. Most of the lower bowl is covered with a protective net, but there have been many cases of fans being hit by pucks.

Watch Canuck Games Online for Free

It is possible to watch Canucks games online for free. This is a great option if you don’t have the time or money, or simply aren’t in the right location. The best website to go to for finding a consistent stream is Reddit. I have attached the link to find a stream to Canucks games, and all types of hockey games. This is a goldmine for hockey fans!

Finding Cheap Canuck Tickets For Any Game

Getting a great deal is the next best thing to getting free hockey tickets. The best way to find tickets is the ol’ classic method, scalping. Simply get to the gate a little after puck drop and most scalpers will be selling them forr face value, if not less. If scalping isn’t your cup of tea, or you want to get there early, buying online is your best bet. First, check the Vancouver Craigslist. There is usually a good deal or two if you check a week prior to the game you want to attend.

For me though, I use Seatgeek. Seatgeek provides the best option for finding cheap Canuck tickets. I have tried stubhub, ticketmaster, tickpick, and a bunch of other providers. But after hidden fees, tax, and everything else, Seatgeek gets you cheap Canuck tickets.
